About Lauren McCabe Sperber, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s degree from Adelphi University and a post-graduate training certificate in Parent Education and Parent Guidance from Adelphi University’s Institute for Parenting. I am currently pursing advanced training’s in Infertility and Infant Loss, a certification in Perinatal Mood Disorders, Integrated Medicine for Mental Health Clinicians, and Telemental Health. I have completed my Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) basic training and continue to pursue my consultation hours for full certification.
Throughout my career, I have worked with women, men, teens, and children who have experienced mental health disorders, family conflict, life transitions, relationship issues, grief, family violence, weight/body image issues, self-harming behaviors, women’s health issues, infertility, infant loss, chronic pain, and trauma.
My specialty is working with women, parents, and teens who have a history of trauma. These traumas include: emotional abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, rape and sexual assault, chronic health diagnosis, infertility, and infant loss.
I use various techniques and modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), Mindfulness, Strengths Based and Psycho-Educational Skills Building. I also provide workshops for adolescents, parents, adults, and professional staff of medical and educational institutions.
I am very passionate about what I do; I feel blessed that I’ve worked with so many that have felt comfortable to share their life experiences with me. I also believe that my own life experiences help me be genuine and connect well with clients.
